JBL Charge 3 Review
A waterproof Bluetooth speaker plays with a louder sound, but the quality of the sound takes a step back. There is the big question, of course, whether the sound quality is better of JBL 3 as compared to the JBL Charge 2+, the short answer of it is no. The new models have louder sound and have more bass, but the sound of Charge 2+ is a little tighter — and by that we mean it is the better-balanced speaker that has batter bass definition and smoother sound treble.
The Good: The JBL Charger 3 has a good design and waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker. It has long battery life and doubles as an external charger for a portable device of users. This product has built-in speakerphone capabilities and plays with loud sound with high bass for its size and price.
The Bad: When this product plays with a higher sound than JBL Charge 2+, it does not sound as good.
The Bottom Line: As compared to its predecessor, JBL Charge 3 has a large size. It is the full waterproof product and plays with louder sound — but this product should sound a little better.
There are many wireless Bluetooth speakers available these days, but 3 brands rise to the top which are Bose, UltimateEars, and JBL. Among those 3, the JBL is the model that has backup up batteries for phones and USB-powered devices.
The JBL Charge 3 and JBL Charge 2+ look similar and have the same price of $150 and £150. The sticker price of this product in Australia is AU$229, but you can get this for under AU$200. While the Charge 2+ product is fully resistant to water and its successor model is fully waterproof, with IPX7 certification. So you can submerse this product fully in water for short time. As compared to the previous models, the new model is 20% larger and heavier.
The battery life of this product is 20 hours maximum and also it has speakerphone capabilities. For connecting your product to other JBL connect enable speakers for amplification and widen the stage for sound wirelessly, users need to use the JBL Connect app.
I am not sure how much the Charge 3 upgraded over the Charge 2+ speaker. It has long battery life and plays louder. But in my opinion, the quality of sound is relatively disappointing for me, given the fact is larger and as compared to the predecessor new speaker has better sound.
It’s worth noting that when JBL released its ist product Charge 2, the speaker in 2014 before charge 2+, there are some issues with the quality of sound of the Charge 2 speaker. The company quietly released a firmware upgrade after a few months to improve the sound significantly, but the company didn’t tell anybody about this.
If the company did the same thing again, then we will update this review accordingly.
